In particular, their high hardness and wear resistance remain largely unchanged at temperatures up to 500°C, and they still have high hardness at 1000°C. Therefore, carbide cutting tools are widely used in modern industry.

The main purpose of carbide cutting tools is to cut metal materials. Carbide tools have high hardness, which can effectively remove metal materials and improve cutting efficiency. The manufacturing process of carbide cutting tools mainly includes powder metallurgy, sintering, and post-processing. Powder metallurgy is a process of mixing carbide powder and binder powder, then pressing and shaping them, and then sintering them at high temperatures. Sintering is a process of sintering the powder metallurgy preform at high temperatures to bond the powders together. Post-processing is a process of machining and heat treating the sintered carbide to obtain the desired shape, size, and performance.

The use and maintenance of carbide cutting tools should pay attention to the following points:

  • Correctly select the type and specification of carbide tools.
  • Use carbide tools reasonably and avoid overload cutting.
